टुगेदर फॉर एज्युकेशन

शाळा, शाळेतलं शिक्षण, आणि त्याची क्वालिटी हे आपल्या सर्वांचे आवडते चर्चेचे विषय. शाळेत काय शिकवतात? शिक्षकांनाच किती येतं? मुलांकडं लक्षच नसतं शिक्षकांचं, सिलॅबसमधेच प्रॉब्लेम आहे... अशी सगळी चर्चा शेवटी 'हे असंच चालायचं' इथपर्यंत येऊन थांबते. आपण सगळे सुशिक्षित आणि हुशार पालक 'एज्युकेशन सिस्टीम' कशी बेकार आणि होपलेस होत चाललीय, यावरच चर्चा करुन थांबतो. जर ह्या सिस्टीममधे प्रॉब्लेम आहेत, तर त्या प्रॉब्लेमवर काहीतरी उपाय शोधायचा की नुसती नावं ठेवून पुन्हा त्याच सिस्टीममधे आपल्या मुलांना सोडून द्यायचं? आपलं शिक्षण, अनुभव, कर्तृत्व यांचा काहीच उपयोग नाही करता येणार? आपण खरंच एवढे असहाय्य, एवढे हेल्पलेस आहोत?

नाही, आम्हाला नाही असं वाटत! आपणही याच सिस्टीममधून शिकलोत आणि त्याचे फायदे आजही मिळवत आहोत. पूर्ण सिस्टीम खराब नाहीये, तर काही-काही ठिकाणी तिच्यात प्रॉब्लेम्स निर्माण झालेत. बोटाला जखम झाली तर आपण हातच कापून टाकतो का? नाही ना? मग सिस्टीममधल्या प्रॉब्लेम्सवर उपाय शोधण्याऐवजी आपण सिस्टीमला दोष देऊन मोकळे कसं होऊ शकतो? आपण प्रयत्न केला तर बदल होऊ शकतो. पूर्ण सिस्टीममधे नाही होणार कदाचित, पण आपल्या मुलांसाठी तरी नक्कीच होईल. आणि असा विचार करुन प्रत्येकानं बदल घडवायचं ठरवलं तर सिस्टीम बदलायला कितीसा वेळ लागेल?

हा बदल करायचा म्हणजे नेमकं काय करायचं? आपण नक्की काय करु शकतो? आपल्याला खरंच काही करता येऊ शकेल का? असे प्रश्न आम्हालाही पडतात. स्वतःपुरती काही उत्तरंही आम्ही शोधलीत. पण असे प्रश्न ज्यांना पडतात ते सर्वजण एकत्र आले तर अजून बरीच उत्तरं सापडतील, असं आम्हाला वाटतं. एका व्यक्तिचं ज्ञान, कौशल्य, आणि वेळ यांना मर्यादा असतात. पण समान विचारांची अनेक माणसं एकत्र आली तर त्या सगळ्यांची बेरीज आपल्याला अपेक्षित उत्तरापर्यंत नक्कीच घेऊन जाऊ शकेल.

ज्यांना ह्या एज्युकेशन सिस्टीममधे प्रॉब्लेम वाटतोय, आणि फक्त बोलण्यावर न थांबता प्रत्यक्ष काहीतरी करायची ज्यांची तयारी आहे, त्या सर्वांसाठी एक प्लॅटफॉर्म देतोय 'मँगो अकॅडमी'चा 'टुगेदर फॉर एज्युकेशन' प्रोजेक्ट! आपल्या मुलांच्या शिक्षणाच्या बाबतीत जाणवणार्‍या समस्यांवर चर्चा करणं, त्यावर आपल्याला करता येतील असे उपाय शोधणं, आणि एक प्रॅक्टिकल ॲक्शन प्लॅन बनवणं, हे या प्रोजेक्टचं उद्दिष्ट आहे. यात सहभागी होण्यासाठी कसल्याही अटी नाहीत. फक्त पॉझिटीव्ह ॲटीट्यूड पाहिजे आणि स्वतःसाठी, आपल्या मुलांसाठी काम करायची तयारी पाहिजे.

प्रत्येक समस्येवर रामबाण उपाय आमच्याकडंही नाहीत. पण आपल्या प्रश्नांची उत्तरं आपणच शोधू शकतो, हा विश्वास मात्र आहे. तुम्हालाही असा विश्वास वाटत असेल तर जरुर सामील व्हा...

मुलांसाठी दोन दिवसीय उन्हाळी शिबिराचे आयोजन

मुलांचा उन्हाळी सुट्टीतील वेळ मौजमजेसोबतच त्यांच्या व्यक्तिमत्व विकासासाठी वापरता यावा या हेतुने, जयहिंद परिवार व सुपरस्टार एज्यु. मीडिया यांच्यातर्फे कोथरुडमधे दोन दिवसीय उन्हाळी शिबिर (समर कॅम्प) घेण्यात येणार आहे. दि. २३ व २४ मे २०१४ रोजी कोथरुडच्या गांधीभवन येथे आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या या शिबिरासाठी व्यक्तिमत्व विकास, अभिनय कार्यशाळा, ध्यानधारणा, एकाग्रता वाढीसाठी व्यायाम, कथालेखन कार्यशाळा, मुलांपुढील आदर्श व्यक्तिमत्वांची माहिती, पपेट मेकींग, ओरिगामीवर आधारीत भूमिती अर्थात् जॉयमेट्री, सामाजिक लघुपट, आणि नृत्य कार्यशाळा असा भरगच्च कार्यक्रम आखण्यात आला आहे. शिबिरासाठी ६ ते १४ वयोगटातील मुलांचा सहभाग अपेक्षित असला तरी, काही उपक्रमांमधे मुलांबरोबरच पालकांनाही सहभागी होण्याची संधी दिली जाणार आहे. विविध कला व अभ्यास क्षेत्रांतील तज्ज्ञ या शिबिरातून मुलांना मार्गदर्शन करतील, तसेच मुलांमधील सुप्त गुणांना वाव मिळवून देण्यासाठी त्यांना प्रत्यक्ष कृतीतून या सर्व विषयांची ओळख करुन देतील. शिबिरात सहभाग घेणार्या सर्व मुलांना संयोजकांतर्फे प्रमाणपत्रे देण्यात येतील. तसेच शिबाराच्या समारोपावेळी लकी ड्रॉ पद्धतीने काही भाग्यवान विजेत्यांना आकर्षक बक्षिसेही देण्यात येतील. प्रसिद्ध सिनेतारका अमृता घुगे यांच्या हस्ते प्रमाणपत्र व बक्षिस वितरण केले जाईल. सदर शिबिरासाठी रु.७५० इतके शुल्क असून, दि. १८ मे पूर्वी नोंदणी करणार्यांस शिबिर शुल्कामधे रु.१०० ची सूट मिळेल. शिबिरासाठी नावनोंदणी ‘खावाकी फूड प्रॉडक्ट्स, शॉप नं.३, शिवरुद्र सोसायटी, आशिष हॉलसमोर, नविन डी.पी. रोड, कोथरुड’ येथे सुरु आहे. अधिक माहितीसाठी ९८२२४०१२४६ (मंदार), ९८२२४१८१२१ (आकांक्षा), ९८९०६४०११२ (माधवी) यांच्याशी संपर्क साधावा.

Handwriting Skill Development - Why and How?

What is the international language of communication today?

English, for sure! Practically speaking, English has become the official language of many countries, including India. All of our documentation, communication, and day-to-day work is in English, not only in corporate sector, but also in government and social sectors! Our country is known for its unity in diversity. And no surprise, English is acting as a uniting agent for millions of Indians speaking hundreds of native languages and dialects. In an effort to empower our children with globally recognised communication tool, schools are adopting English as medium of education. This truly makes English the Knowledge Language of world!

Is ‘handwriting’ important in today’s ‘computerised’ world?

Absolutely yes! Computers are meant to save repetitive activities of human beings, and to increase speed of operations with great accuracy. Internet is meant to spread knowledge and to speed up communication process. But, can they replace the language itself? Nope! So, language remains and so does its script. And that’s why children’s learning starts with alphabets. As basic tools to communicate, children have to master spoken and written language skills.

Some common scenarios in schools:

- Due to slow writing speed, child falls behind while taking notes in class.
- My child is a fast-learner, but cannot write down everything that it knows. 
- Class tests are time-bound and child cannot finish answer-sheets in time.
- Teacher cannot make of what child has written. It’s not legible.

As a result, child keeps losing confidence and interest in concerned subjects.

Why does this happen?

This happens because your child is not interested in writing. Yes, it has nothing to do with knowledge, skill, or writing tools. It just depends upon child’s interest in this communication tool. Any child can write, can write fast, can write legible, can write beautiful! Creating interest does the magic.

Is there any age limit to improve handwriting?

It’s never too early or too late to start any good thing. If your child is just starting with alphabets, it can start learning how to write well. If child is struggling with academics due to slow or illegible writing, it can devote some time to hone its handwriting skill. Even you, grown-ups, can keep the keyboard/mouse/remote control aside for a while, and try holding a pen again. It’s amazing to see you ‘create’ letters on a blank paper!

Do we need to ‘teach’ handwriting to children?

Not literally. Children (in fact, all of us) are self-learners. But, like any other subject in the universe, handwriting, too, needs a media. To connect the children with the knowledge and skills. Call it teaching, call it guiding, call it supervising, call it motivating, or call it inspiring… some external support is needed! We just be the media. We remove their fear of writing, we guide them how to hold a pencil, we guide them how to sit properly while writing. Then, we encourage them to ‘write’. We tell them when they are doing well. And we also tell them when they are doing it best!

Handwriting is the most common form of art.
…An art that every child can master.
……Let’s bring forward the artists hiding within.
